KEN GLOBUS WORKSHOPS

What To Expect

Ken's workshop is an intensive, four-hour session that is a great way to both get help with your bird and learn Ken's unique, hands-on approach to taming birds in a dynamic, comprehensive setting. People can participate as observers, or take part with their own "difficult" birds.

The Workshop will teach handling and taming techniques with a primary focus on fear, aggression and socialization issues. Ken will also discuss techniques to help screaming, but for that you needn't bring your bird.

Ken will explode some of the most commonly held myths of the bird world and simplify the taming process. He'll teach owners how to deal with fear - theirs and the birds. They'll learn the techniques that turn frightened, aggressive birds into loving pets.

First Ken handles the birds until they are calmer and more manageable. Then he blends the owners into the process, teaching them how to get close to their pets and shows them what they need to do to follow through. By the end of the workshop, most of the birds will be to the point where they are being handled by everyone.

The number of birds admitted is limited, so we encourage people to attend as observers. Those who do, typically learn enough to handle birds they previously couldn't handle. If time permits, those attending without birds get hands-on experience with other people's birds.

As a workshop participant, you will observe Ken work with a variety of birds with different behavior issues. And what you learn will change the way you understand and handle birds. People who were frightened of birds frequently come away from the workshop with new confidence.

Bringing Your Bird

If you register to bring a bird, WSCBC will contact you right away to let you know if the Seminar still has openings for birds. We can accept up to 6 birds for each workshop - first come, first served.

Please bring birds which need help with aggression, biting or fearfulness issues. Birds with the main problem of screaming or plucking are not good subjects for the workshop although Ken can help with suggestions for dealing with screamers at home.

WSCBC will provide detailed information for people bringing a bird to the workshops later but here are some guidelines:

  • All participating birds must be in good health. Ken reserves the right to refuse to work with any bird he feels is showing signs of stress, injury or illness.
  • Birds must be groomed, wings and toenails trimmed. We cannot work with unclipped birds.
  • If your bird needs work on in-and-out of the cage, bring a reasonable sized cage to the Workshop.
  • No audio or video recording is permitted.
  • Please do not bring birds other than those in the workshop.
  • Participants will be required to sign a liability release.
